Year 1 Phonics (2025)

The majority of pupils met the expected standard in the Year 1 phonics screening check, with a strong 82.8% pass rate. This indicates that most children are developing secure early reading skills in line with national expectations by the end of Key Stage 1 Year 1.

Year 2 Phonics Re-sits (2025)

Pupils who did not meet the expected standard in Year 1 were supported and re-tested in Year 2, achieving a 47.4% pass rate. This demonstrates that targeted intervention and continued phonics teaching enabled a significant proportion of pupils to catch up and secure the expected standard.

Overall Phonics Outcomes (Combined KS1 Measure)

The combined phonics outcome reflects pupils who met the expected standard in either Year 1 or through successful re-sitting in Year 2.
